Event Objectives:
● To introduce children and parents to traditional Chinese arts and culture through a variety of booth activities and a traditional magic performance.
● To foster appreciation of Chinese heritage through hands-on experiences.
Event Overview:
To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, our school held a special “Mid-Autumn Festival Funfairs ” Parent-Child Activity” . A range of cultural and festive activities were prepared to allow children and parents to experience the traditions and joy of this meaningful festival.
Activity 1: Snowy Mooncake Making
As mooncakes symbolise family reunion during the Mid-Autumn Festival, children had the chance to observe and participate in making snowy mooncakes. Through this hands-on activity, they learned about the ingredients and the process, deepening their understanding of the festival’s traditions.
Activity 2: Lantern-Making Workshop
Children created their own lanterns, exploring traditional Chinese crafts while developing creativity and fine motor skills.
Activity 3: Riddle Guessing Game
Children learned that solving lantern riddles is a classic Mid-Autumn activity that blends culture, tradition, and wisdom. This fun, educational game introduced them to Chinese literary customs.
Activity 4: Mid-Autumn Photo Zone with Traditional Costumes
Children had the opportunity to try on different styles of traditional Hanfu (Chinese clothing), enriching their understanding of traditional attire and deepening their connection to Chinese culture.
Activity 5: Traditional Magic Show
The ancient art of “Gucai Xifa” was presented through a captivating performance. Children experienced the charm of Chinese folk magic and learned to appreciate the difference between modern magic and traditional folk performances. This activity also encouraged a stronger sense of cultural identity and pride in national heritage.
