Event Objectives:
● To enable children and parents to learn about and appreciate traditional Chinese arts and customs through children’s performances, acrobatic shows, and Lunar New Year stall games.
● To help children develop an understanding of their country and Chinese culture, fostering a sense of national identity and belonging.
Event Overview:
Chinese culture is rich and profound. To enhance children’s and parents’ understanding of this heritage, our school held the “Spring Blessings at Amoy: Chinese Cultural Day” before the Lunar New Year this academic year. On the day of the event, teachers and children dressed in beautiful traditional Chinese clothing, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere throughout the school.
The Cultural Day featured two main parts: children’s talent and acrobatic performances, and Lunar New Year-themed stall games. The children gave wonderful performances, including an adorable panda dance, powerful Chinese kung fu, drum and flag routines, and graceful fan dancing — all vividly showcasing traditional Chinese performing arts.
There were nine festive game stalls offering play-based, artistic, and traditional snack experiences. These varied activities allowed children to learn through play, filling the playground with laughter and excitement.
Held on Saturday, 18 January 2025, the event provided a joyful and immersive experience for children and their families, sparking the children’s interest in traditional Chinese customs and culture while celebrating the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year.
